A Tandom Services Company is a State Licensed Building Contractor engaged in residential & light commercial construction. Although we are capable of building new houses, we typically stick to remodeling & additions. I would like to share with you some of my thoughts about remodeling. Imagine taking someone from the old Ford plant who has installed 10,000 engines over the years....then take that person and put him in a garage as a mechanic, whom now has to troubleshoot all types of different makes and models of vehicles; Who has to take these engines apart to fix them. It simply won’t work. It takes years of experience being a mechanic to be good at it.

The same is true with remodeling. It takes years of experience as a remodeler (not a home builder) to go into someone’s home and make modifications. Remodelers do foundations, flooring, framing, cornice, insulation, roofing, chimneys, windows, doors, siding, demolition, and everything necessary to dissect and rebuild a home. New home builders have different subcontractors to perform each trade.

As the building codes have had periodic changes over the years, a remodeler must know how houses were built during every decade. (Big changes are going on right now with "Green Remodeling" and the uniformity of one nationwide building code.) Then take into consideration all of the types of Architectural Styles There is a metamorphism that takes place when tying in the new with the old.
